Of course, in order to enjoy the weekend, you must first somehow survive the workweek. And while some of you enjoy your jobs and have no problem making it through Friday, many of you can barely get by day after day.

If you don’t like your job, you spend countless hours daydreaming about all of the fun you will have on the weekend. As you are reading this, you are sitting at work feeling your soul being sucked out of your body.

Wind Down After Work

Once you have finished your workday, use the free time you have to relax and unwind. It is totally valid to go home and recharge your batteries after work. Oh sure, some errands need to be accomplished and dinner to cook and serve, but take a little time out for yourself first.

Failing to relax and stop thinking about work will lead to a work hangover the next day. It will feel like you never left work.

One of the better ways to recoup from the workday is by engaging in yoga or some other form of meditation. A hot bath is also a good way to let the stresses of the workday melt away.

Cut Your Day Short

Working long hours is simply just a bad idea. Long hours, after an initial burst of activity, actually make you way less productive. This has been proven time and time again. Yet, people still seem to think that they can get more accomplished working a 10 or 12 hour day.

Besides, if you are working smart, you shouldn’t have to spend extra time at work. We get it, there will be times when you might have to stay a little longer at work to get a project complete or for some other reason, but don’t make this a daily or even weekly habit.

Do the Important Things First

If you are the type of person who puts off the important things until later, you have to change that up. 20% of your activities are going to produce 80% of your results.

All that means is that when you tackle the important tasks first thing in the morning, you will get more done.

Avoid Negative People

You know exactly who we are talking about. Positive people want to hang out with you and help you when they can. Negative people will hang out with anything willing to put up with them and they won’t help you out. In fact, in many cases, they will bring you down with their negative attitude.

Now, it is impossible to avoid every negative person all of the time, so you have to figure out ways to ditch them. Of course, you want to do that with tact.

And once you have rid yourself of negative people, do out there and hang out with the positive people at your workplace.

Use Your Commute Wisely

Most people waste their commute time texting, talking on the phone or listening to the news. That is not a good use of your commute.

Instead, use that time to listen to some chill music or even a comedian. On your way to work, use that time to pump yourself up for the day. You can do this by listening to music that inspires you, even if it is Cannibal Corpse.

Make Weekend Plans in Advance
