Diving Boards for Boats and Staying Healthy This Winter

A healthy boater is a happy boater for life.

You spend your summers basking in the sun while on your boat, fishing while on your boat and jumping into the water from your boat diving board. You stay busy and get plenty of exercise in the summer. But that tends to taper off in the fall when the weather turns and the days grow shorter. By winter, you are basically a blob on the couch engaged in around 12 television series on Netflix.

That’s not a very healthy trend and it can lead to a weak immune system and coming down with a cold or the flu.

What you need to do is stay healthy all year round. Lillipad Marine, your source for diving boards for boats, offers these tips to stay healthy in the winter.

Indoor Activities

We know you can’t be on your boat in the winter and enjoy the exercise you get jumping off the diving board and swimming, but there are things you can do indoors. For example, you can join a bowling league, take up a dance class or engage in hot yoga. The key is to make your winter activity fun and social, so you look forward to it. If you love swimming, head to the nearest public indoor pool.

Sit Less

Get off that couch and get active around the house. Whatever you are watching on Netflix will still be there after you have been active for a few hours. There are plenty of tasks that need to be done in the comfort and warmth of your home including cleaning, vacuuming and grooming the dog.

Winter Walks

Suck it up, bundle up and head out for a winter walk. If you get the right gear, you can take winter walks and stay quite toasty warm. You will be surprised at how beautiful the landscape is in the frozen winter.

Winter Meals

Skip out on the fast food joints and instead opt to make your own healthy meals at home. Make your own stews and casseroles with lots of vegetables to boost your health. Don’t forget to get your daily intake of fruits. Kiwi, grapefruit and oranges are all very healthy and delicious and in season through winter.

Sleep It Off

Get at least eight to 10 hours of sleep a night to prevent your immune system from weakening. Staying up late and losing out on sleep makes you more susceptible to colds and the flu.

Don’t Stress Out About It

Stress is unhealthy and it can drain your immune system. Exercise has been proven to be a great stress reducer. You can follow up your workout with a cup of hot tea and meditation to help keep yourself chilled out.

Stay Connected

Socializing helps strengthen your immune system and reduces stress levels. You need to contact your boating pals and get together once a week for coffee or some other activity and catch up on their lives.

You can talk about family, work and that new diving board you bought from Lillipad Marine.
